2022 – Dominick Hall Housing, Dominick Street, Dublin

The long brick façade, the rows of windows in a steady rhythm, are both intended to recall the long terrace of Georgian houses that originally lined Dominick Street. The street went into terminal decline after the Act of Union and most of the houses had become slums before Dublin Corporation flats replaced them. These flats in turn have been replaced by this new social housing development of 72 apartments. The building can be read as a whole, like a Georgian terrace, but also there are details that divide it vertically creating an effect of separate houses like the original terraces.
