1895 – L&NR Bungalows, Greenore Golf Course, Co. Louth

Holiday accommodation constructed at Greenore golf course as part of the London and North West Railway Company development of the village.
Greenore’s picturesque charm is a result of the work of the railway company who built and developed the port and railway line. The village consisted of a railway station built inside a grand Hotel on a quayside with luxury passenger sailings regularly for Holyhead in Wales. At its peak, a first class passenger could leave Euston Station in London at 8:45pm and arrive in Belfast at 9:52am including a four hour voyage from Holyhead to Greenore.

Two streets of houses were also built, Euston Street and Anglesey Terrace to house the employees of the railway. The railway company also developed the school, Police Barracks, Coast Guard, Beach Cafe, Greenore Lighthouse, Greenore Hotel, and Greenore Golf Club. Sadly the railway closed in 1951 with the ferry services soon after.
