A design for a 22-storey skyscraper on Tara Street which would have been Dublin’s tallest at the time of design. Originally intended to be 88 metres tall, it comprised offices, a hotel, and rooftop restaurant. Mired in delays and redesigns, at one time the developer Johnny Ronan proposed an extra floor but maintaining the same height, the developer later fought to remove the hotel element for more office space.

Described by An Taisce in submissions against planning as “The current proposal for George’s Quay is a plain, commercial-spec glass tower devoid of any particular elegance or style in terms of its form and profile”.

The development agreement with CIÉ, the property owners, for the tower lapsed in August 2023. The project eventually died after a legal case where the site reverted to its owners CIE.
