2015 – Alt Hotel, Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba

Multi-purpose development with office accommodation as a podium for a small boutique hotel in a short tower. The building has street level commercial space and incorporates a remnant from a previous building on the site – the former Bank of Commerce from 1919.

The whole ensemble is a bit disappointing – the tower is relatively short and dark; the decorative elements on the podium – some coloured cladding and the facade of a former bank look contrived and unconnected. Stantec, the designers, are also the anchor tenant of the office space in the podium.
