2009 – Proposal for AIB Bankcentre, Ballsbridge, Dublin
Architect: Ian Ritchie Architects
Developer-driven proposal to demolish part of the Robinson Keefe Devane designed bankcentre and replace it with a range of blocks up to nine storeys in height. The scheme of five office blocks and one residential building involved a significant intensification of the current land use, with the floor area increasing from the current 15,700sq m to 52,000sq m. Permission was refused. Independent councillor Mannix Flynn said the proposed development was completely inappropriate for the area. “The name for this type of architecture is architorture.”
