The library wall forms the backdrop to a new square and is made from Limestone, the indigenous material used in all Sligo’s important building from the last century, only constructed in a contemporary way and on a scale which is resonant to the limestone cliffs on the outskirts of the town. The cultural centre is three storeys and continues the street line and is made from zinc which weathers to a natural grey, the ramp connects them both and forms the enclosure. There is a connection to the Niland Centre.
