The Toledo Municipal Archives building was inaugurated on November 30, 1999, based on a design by architect Ignacio Mendaro Corsini and funded by European funds. The building received the 2001 Castilla-La Mancha Architecture Prize for the best public work constructed in the region during 1999-2000 and was selected for the Spanish Pavilion at the 11th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2004. Its distinctive architectural features have been featured in Italian architecture magazines such as “Casabella,” French magazines such as “Techniques & Architecture” and “Architecture intérieure. CREE,” British magazines such as “The Architectural Review,” and a dozen Spanish magazines.
