This building was designed by Green Blankstein Russell in a vaguely Post-Modern style, while the Design and Planning staff of Winnipeg Hydro were responsible for integral equipment and facility design aspects. Part of what appears to be building is a screen wall supporting blast panels above in the event of transformer explosions. This building won the New Building Award by the Manitoba Association of Architects, and was one of the last major projects of Winnipeg Hydro. In 2025, the external water feature was removed.
