1980 – Roches Stores, Henry St., Dublin

Originally designed in the late 1950s by the same firm of architects (NMA), half of the store was built in the 1960s (at the Coles Lane corner) and the other half in the 1970s (at the Little Denmark Street end). The 1960s gable wall became a spine up the middle of the store when the 1970s addition arrived, the store was finally completed in 1980. The Lord Mayor of Dublin inaugurated Ireland’s first escalator, in Roches Stores’ Dublin branch, on 25 March 1963.
