1979 – 360 Main, Winnipeg, Manitoba

At 117 metres and 31 floors, this tower decimated the surrounding streetscapes at construction, removing a variety of commercial buildings. Also known as Winnipeg Square, or Trizec Building, the development had foundations for a sister tower alongside that was not constructed until 2022-23.

“Trizec unveiled plans and sketches involving two 34 storey office towers, a regional bank building for the Bank of Nova Scotia, a 220 room hotel – with total rentable space of more than one million square feet at a cost of over $80m”.

In 2008, the tower was renamed to 360 Main after the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange was absorbed into the American-based Intercontinental Exchange. The building has been reclad in recent years to much improvement from its original appearance.
