Part of a complex of student accomodation for Trinity College Dublin, first opening in the early 20th century. It was run as a strictly female institution providing a sheltered environment for young women students until 1972, when men were admitted. The Sports Hall is attached to the 19th century Oldham House and due to be demolished along with the 1973 Cunningham Hall. Oldham is a protected nineteenth-century building which was one of three original houses making up Halls, along with Greenane and Purser House. The new development received planning permission in 2020 but appeals and court cases have delayed the project. A lack of funding in 2024 has delayed the project further.
