1974 – Medical Arts Building, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Sixteen floors and built to accommodate office suites for medical practitioners, the Medical Arts Building was certainly successful as regards its occupancy rate. At one time the building was the largest medical office in Winnipeg and contained the offices of approximately 200 medical and dental practitioners as well as x-ray facilities and a pharmacy. Shame about the architecture, which is an unimaginative use of prefabricated panels. Renovated to expand the window openings in recent years, as approximately 140,000 square feet of underutilized commercial office space was converted into 96 condo-quality residential suites. After the alterations, it is quite similar in appearance to their building of the same year, the Bestlands Building on Pioneer.
