1972 – Irish Farm Centre, Naas Road, Dublin

The Irish Farm Centre was constructed to provide office space for the major farming organisations in Ireland. In true Irish fashion of the day, the building was blessed by the Archbishop of Dublin and opened by the Taoiseach Jack Lynch. The building contained “a specially strengthened section of flooring capable of carrying a full computer service without any structural problems.” Originally providing 50,000 sq.ft of office and cost over £600,000 to construct. A grim exercise in prefabricated panels by Lardner & Associates, a firm that has seen many of its buildings demolished. Here, the original L-shaped building has been softened by the addition of a curved brick conference centre and entrance in 2007.
