1972 – Century Plaza Hotel, Vancouver, British Columbia

When first opened, the owner wasn’t certain it would be viable as a hotel due to its location, so he built large rooms with small kitchenettes that could be converted into rental apartments if necessary. Still an hotel today, its location became more central as the area perceived to be downtown expanded.
