Large modern Cistercian monastery built in the grounds of an earlier Georgian country house from 1810. The abbey was founded in 1948 by the Cistercian community of Mount Melleray Abbey in County Waterford. In 1962, the community started a new monastery designed in a modern style by Pádraig Murray, completed in 1971. Large quadrangle of monastic accommodation with connected church and modern belltower.
