1967 – Our Lady Queen of Ireland Basilica, Knock, Mayo
Architect: Daithí P. Hanly
Formerly the Dublin City Architect, Daithi Hanly had resigned in the mid 1960s to conduct private practice. At Knock he designed this massive basilica that can accommodate 10,000. Not one of his better works, the building relies on scale and bombast to impress the faithful rather than any architectural theory.
