This parish church was opened by the then Archbishop of Dublin, Dr McQuaid, on Sunday 3rd December 1967, and was designed to seat a thousand. The structural form of the church allows for vast amounts of stained-glass, which was executed by Murphy Devitt, a partnership of Johnny Murphy and John Devitt who met while working in the Harry Clarke Studios. There are also two murals on the walls of the crossing by Seán Keating.
