1967 – Chapel, Gonzaga College, Ranelagh, Dublin

Originally the site of Gonzaga School was two identical houses, Sandford Hill and Sandford Grove, belonging to members of the prominent Bewley family. In the 1950s, Andrew Devane of Robinson Keefe Devane Architects was asked to prepare a masterplan for a school hall between the houses and classroom wings extending to them. The masterplan included a chapel in front of the hall and main entrance. Over the 1950s the classroom wing was built along with the hall and main entrance. In the 1960s the chapel was finally constructed.

The sculptor Michael Biggs was commissioned to do the altar, the ambo, and the tabernacle pillar. The stained glass window at the apex of the triangular building was the work of Frances Biggs, and was a gift of Devane. It had always been the intention of the architect that all the windows would contain stained glass but the budget would not stretch to this at the time. Windows designed by Frances Biggs were installed some years after the original completion of the building.
