1966 – Pan-Am Pool, Grant Avenue, Winnipeg
Architect: Smith Carter Searle Associates
Large swimming pool complex built for Pan American Games of 1967. Designed in a Brutalist style, the exterior is clad in aggregate panels while the external concrete walkways and stairs are finished with a béton brut finish. Sadly, the exterior has had a poor extension added to the main western facade taking away some of the rawness of the design, while also removing the large expanse of glazing at that end. A similar glazed end to the east has also been obscured by the addition of and extension for another pool.
