1964 – Deramore Arms, 361 Ormeau Road, Belfast

Wild exterior for a modern bar with upstairs lounge in Belfast – a bold relief sculpture wrapping around the corner at street level. Due to the architect’s close links with the Northern Ireland arts scene, it’s possibly by Desmond Kinney who was his student at Belfast School of Art. Sadly lost, the architect Robert McKinstry (1925-2012) was better known for his architectural conservation work through the 70s and 80s.
