1963 – St. Senan’s Church, Kilkee, Co. Clare

Architect: John C. Thompson

0026

Said to be inspired by the Catholic cathedral of Coventry, England, the Church of the Immaculate Conception & St. Senan’s was a modern design compared with its preceding building. A key feature of the interior is the orientation of the windows, as they are hidden when looking towards the altar, which is afforded a maximum level of glare-free natural light. Despite this it is a large and relatively gloomy interior with four rows of pews facing the altar.
