1961 – Extension, DIT Bolton Street, Dublin
Architect: Hooper & Mayne
Modern extension along Kings Inns Street to the early 20th century buildings of the College of Technology. Hooper & Mayne were popular with the City of Dublin VEC, building several vocational schools as well as the large college building at Kevin Street. Eight bays were added to the original building along Bolton Street at this time, replicating the original façade style. With three floors over a slightly recessed ground floor, the top floor of the modern block has setback clerestory windows on the roof. A prospectus from the 80s shows a recessed corner entrance at the meeting of the two buildings. A further extension was added in the 1980s to designs by Gilroy McMahon.
