1960 – Midtown Plaza, No.59 Donald St., Winnipeg
Architect: Libling Michener & Associates
The nine-storey apartment block shares many similarities of the architect’s design at Grosvenor House of a year later, 1961. In addition to the expressed concrete construction with brick cladding, it has a mostly open ground floor allowing for sheltered parking. Unlike Grosvenor House some balconies are recessed, with projecting balconies on the south and north facades. The effect here is boxier, a cleaner albeit less expressive design than at Grosvenor.
