In 1957, The Shannon Airport Development Authority (SADA) was set up with the aim to make Shannon Airport more appealing through the promotion of freight traffic and the development of nearby tourist facilities. This 115 bedroom hotel was part of that plan and constructed in just 90 days. Finished externally in textured concrete blockwork, it’s low-rise nature suggests the many 1950 motels alongside American highways. Closed in 2009, and fter sitting derelict for many years it is due for demolition.
