The factory was built in 1958 for Pinehurst Textiles but the British Army took it over in early 1971 for use as a barracks due to its size and position. A stretch of the road alongside was closed. Known as the “Knicker Factory” to those who served there. A large complex with a six story building alongside the manufacturing area with a two storey administration block. Freestanding watertank. Demolished after standing derelict for years after being abandoned by the British Army.

Houston & Beaumont were a Lurgan based architectural partnership that eventually became Colin Deane Partnership.
