1958 – Fish Curing Plant, Galway
Architect: Piaras Beaumont, Bord Iascaigh Mhara
Shallow pitched roof modernism with vertical emphasis provided by the ice tower. Formerly Bord Iascaigh Mhara’s Fish Processing Station, the first-ever building to be commended in the RIAI Triennial Gold Medal awards. The original stonework to the office building and the cantilevered roofs over the loading doors can still be seen but the tower was much altered before being removed completely in 2022. Now Galway Bay Seafood.
