1955 – Iveagh Cinema, Banbridge, Co. Down
Architect: John McBride Neill
Originally intended to be called the Ritz Cinema, designed by noted cinema architect John McBride Neill. The Iveagh Cinema opened on 3rd December 1955 with Marilyn Monroe in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”. Put up for sale in October 1999. In January 2000 it was reported that Banbridge District Council were to buy it for £350,000 and turn it into an arts centre – with the cinema closing on 31 March 2001. The arts centre plan never happened and the building was eventually demolished in early 2004.
