1952 – Former Blackwater Cottons Factory, Youghal, Co. Cork
Architect: Chillingworth & Levie
Corkman William Dwyer started a cloth manufacturing plant, Seafield Fabrics, in Youghal during 1947. Then, in 1952, he opened Blackwater Cottons, eventually 250 people were employed in the two plants which were side by side. While Seafield Fabrics had an Art Deco appearance, this later factory was more modern and designed by Cork firm Chillingworth & Levie. No longer a factory, the building has a variety of tenants and functions, the stone clad entrance can still be discerned today.
