1937 – Scoil na gCeárd / Technical School, Trim, Co. Meath

The newly independent Irish Free State was involved in providing social housing, hospitals, and schools across the twenty-six counties throughout the 1930s. Much of the social infrastructure of the country was 19th century in origin, and at odds with the new modern country that Ireland aspired to be. A majority of this work was designed in a restrained modern style, the new government being mindful of expenditure. This is typical of such smaller projects with just a touch of applied decoration – in this case panels flanking the main entrance.
