Like a house out of the English Cotswolds, the Leach House was designed by English-born architect Arthur E. Cubbidge. Born in Maidstone, he emigrated to Canada aged around twenty-six and worked as an assistant to Winnipeg architect John Woodman, who in 1917 invited him to become a full partner. Cubbidge went his own way in 1924 and practiced on his own, building several houses in this area including the demolished Eaton House.
