1934 – Town Hall, Portstewart, Co. Derry

The winning design in an architectural competition, second place was award to a design by Valentine Smyth, and third to John MacGeagh. Quite a conservative design, interwar classicism in red brick with concrete dressings, with some modern touches notably around the main entrance to the upper floor. By using the site’s topography to its advantage, the main entrance to the concert hall is almost at grade allowing for easy access for the side. This hall had capacity for 380 people. Listed, but closed to the public since 2019 after a structural survey revealed that the building was unsafe.
