The Mercado da Riberira is Lisbon’s most popular food and fish market. It exists since the end of the 19th century, although the current market hall dates from 1930. Once one of the most famous fish markets in Europe Very much a Lisbon landmark, the Mercado da Ribeira is immediately recognizable by the large clock on its main entrance’s facade, and by the building’s grand oriental dome. On the ground level is an unbelievable selection of fish, seafood, meat, vegetables, fruits and flowers on offer.
