1929 – Plaza de España Exposition Building, Seville, Spain

The Plaza de Espana was the spectacular centerpiece of the Spanish- American Expo. In 1929 Seville hosted the Ibero-American Exposition and numerous pavilions were constructed for the exhibition in Maria Luisa Park, among them the Plaza designed by Aníbal González. On the Park’s edge was built the Plaza de Espaà±a to showcase Spain’s industry and technology exhibits.

The Plaza is a huge half-circle with buildings continually running around the edge accessible over the moat by numerous beautiful bridges. In the centre is a large fountain. The walls of the Plazacontain many tiled alcoves, each representing a different province of Spain.

Plaza de Espaà±a was used in the movie “Lawrence of Arabia” where it featured as “Cairo Great Britain Army Headquarters”.
