Arthur E. Cubbidge, the architect of this house, also designed homes for the Eaton, Leach, Carruthers and Gilchrist families on Wellington Crescent in the 1920s. English-born architect, he emigrated to Canada aged around twenty-six and worked as an assistant to Winnipeg architect John Woodman, who in 1917 invited him to become a full partner. Cubbidge later went his own way in 1924 and practiced on his own. Some of his houses were evocative of the Cotswolds reflecting his heritage, but this is Italianate with wide eaves and round-headed windows. The doorway is particularly elegant with a large Tyndall stone surround.
