1925 – Arcadia, Portrush, Co. Antrim

Constructed as a café, later a ballroom, and almost completely surrounded by the north Atlantic Ocean, now altered and reduced in size. It has been a landmark at Portrush’s East Strand since the 1920s when it was built by local businessman R.A. Chalmers. Over the years it has been operated as variety of entertainment uses and is now a gallery and cafe. Finished externally in decorative stucco with strong Edwardian design cues, it has dramatic circular windows on the second floor looking out to sea. The 1950s ballroom extensions have been demolished.
