1923 – F.W. Woolworth Store, Church St., Liverpool
Architect: W.R. Priddle
Huge department store, a cathedral of commerce, appropriately on the site of the former pro-cathedral, designed by Woolworth’s Chief Architect, William Priddle. They brought in Montague Burton, (the “Tailor of Taste”) and C&A Modes as tenants and neighbours for their own store, guaranteeing a huge footfall. As the store was known as One Liverpool, it is now a shopping centre named Liverpool One.
