Built between 1920 and 1921 to replace an old steel truss bridge of 1894 that was no long safe for vehicles and streetcars. Constructed as a concrete twin arch structure that included a coloured aggregate of red granite. Replaced when a new bridge was built to the west in 1969/70. This bridge was demolished and another bridge constructed, leaving a twin pair.
