Stripped to its structure in the early 1950s and refaced in 1952.

“The accompanying illustration shows the new office building at Vancouver for the Canada Life Assurance Company. Messrs. Macdonald & Wilson, Vancouver, are the contractors, and Messrs. Darling & Pearson, Toronto, the architects. The structure is eight storeys in height. The ground and mezzanine Hoors will be occupied by the Imperial Bank of Canada and the remainder of the building is set apart for offices. Messrs. Doultons’ “Carrara” terra cotta brick has been used largely in the construction of the building. The marble was supplied by the Hoidge Marble Company, Toronto, the ornamental iron work by the Canada Foundry Company and the elevators by the Otis Fensom Company.”
