1911 – Victoria High School, Edmonton, Alberta

At opening in 1911 this was the first school in Edmonton built exclusively for high school students. The school cost about $150,000 at the time and was designed by architect Ronald Lines. In 1913, it was renamed Victoria High School after Queen Victoria. Quite ornate with twin entrances surmounted by two tall towers in an Edwardian classical style. It contained twelve classrooms, a science laboratory, library, main floor auditorium and sub-basement gymnasium. Later extended, with the original buildings demolished circa 1963/64.
