1910 – Salvation Army “People’s Palace,” Vancouver, BC
Architect: Thomas Hooper
“A view of the fine new building to be erected by the Vancouver branch of the Salvation Army is shown herewith. The lot chosen on Powell street runs through to Alexander street, the situation being close to the docks and railway. The available frontage is only 25 feet, and to compensate for this the building will be ten storeys in height. The cost will be about $85,000. Branch buildings are to be erected in other parts of the city, the total outlay anticipated being $i150,000. Major Phillips is the officer in charge. The architect is Mr. Thos. Hooper, who has designed many of Vancouver’s finest buildings.”
