A monumental building with a triumphant Ionic order and smaller version of the City Hall corner towers – Victorian Baroque in full flow. In his book Buildings of Belfast, C.E.B. Brett speculates that its design was based on that of the War Office in Whitehall, London, by the Scottish architect William Young, but the buildings are contemporaries.

Belfast Metropolitan College sold the Edwardian building in 2011 when it moved to a new campus in the Titanic Quarter. It is now student accommodation.
