1906 – Ryan Block, 44 Princess Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Architect: Blair & Northwood
Like many other local warehouses, 44 Princess has a symmetrical façade divided into three parts , with the base highlighted by larger round headed openings. Above this all floors are of three bays of rectangular windows set between continuous brick pilasters. Architects Blair and Northwood had a short-lived partnership in 1906 during which they planned at least three warehouses and a dwelling. Northwood later worked with Raymond Carey from 1919-22 and a long-term partnership with Cyril W.U. Chivers, the practice outliving both original partners. Blair went on to have a successful career before retiring to Victoria BC.
