1910 – King Edward VII Building, General Post Office, London
Architect: Sir Henry Tanner
London’s main Post Office for most of the 20th century, it was opened in 1910 and closed in the 1990s. Design published in 1905. Finished externally in Portland stone and granite facings, the structure is constructed on the Hennebique system of reinforced concrete, making it a very early example of the use of reinforced concrete for a major public building in the UK.
