1904 – Dorman Memorial Museum, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire

“This building, which owes its erection to the liberality of Mr. Dorman, has been designed by Mr. J. Mitchell Bottomley, of Middlesbrough, we, we understand, will, in execution, be enabled to improve its design somewhat; but we have no further particulars.” So wrote The Building News, and infact the architect did get to change the design, creating a taller tower than illustrated. Built of red brick and terracotta with an ornamental copper domed tower, which has become one of Middlesbrough’s landmarks. Perspective published in The Building News, March 27th 1903.
