The photograph from ‘An Illustrated Souvenir of Winnipeg’ shows the building as constructed in 1902, extended in 1906. Still standing today, the building is an attractive and subtle exercise in the brick-finished warehouse style popular in the Exchange District of Winnipeg. The slightly recessed bays are a very nice touch creating surface interest and slight shadowing across the facade. The McLaughlin Carriages company was sold to General Motors in 1918, which owned the building until 1942.
