1896 – Second Unbuilt Design for Belfast Cathedral
Architect: Sir Thomas Drew
In 1896, Sir Thomas Drew produced two designs for a new cathedral for Belfast. The first one, a gothic revival church was shelved due to cost. A second design, this one, was adopted by the design committee, but much altered, with the final design forming the basis of what is there today. Elements of the final design were also not completed due to cost.
