1894 – The Institute of Chartered Accountants, Moorgate Place, London

Designed in Belcher’s own version of Victorian Baroque, in which he incorporates sculpture into the facade. He was a founder of the Art Workers Guild, and felt that his loose Baroque allowed him the freedom to allow artists to expess themselves. Here, the work is by Thorneycroft and Stevenson, with some of the carvings suggesting the coming of Art Nouveau.
