1894 – Rowles House, Bracken Hill, Woking, Surrey
“OUR illustration consists of the front elevation and two plans of above house, about to be erected for M. W. Rowles, Esq. It is proposed to be built of local red bricks-the upper storey to be rough-cast with yellow pebbles ; the gables to be finished in cement, painted a lemon colour ; and the half- timber work painted a red-brown. The roofs will be covered with Brosely tiles . The woodwork in dining-room and staircase to be ash, stained green. The cost will be about £1,200. All the sashes and other external woodwork will be painted white. The hall will be laid with parquetry, and the walls panelled to a height of 6 ft. in ash, stained green. The site is one of the most lovely in the county, commanding extensive and picturesque views. The architect is Mr. W.I. Chambers, of London.”
