Also known as Knockbarragh. Ahead of its construction, it received a description in The Irish Builder – “Rostrevor, on the shores of Carlingford Lough. There will be provided: Public and private dining rooms; ladies’ drawing and sitting-rooms; library, with reading-room attached; bedrooms, to the number of thirty or forty; billiard-room; bath-rooms, fitted up with fresh and salt water baths of various styles. There will be also a complete system of Turkish baths of most approved form. These will be attached to the main building. The site selected for the establishment over looks the beautiful bay; the frontages will respectively measure 150 ft. and 96 ft., and consist of three storeys in height. The undertaking will be carried out by a company, under limited liability, with capital principally subscribed in Dublin and Belfast. The architect is Mr. William James Watson, M.R.I.A.I., Warrenpoint.”
