Proposal for a floating swimming baths for Dun Laoghaire harbour.

THESE baths have been designed by Mr. W. Parry , M.I.C.E.I., architect, to provide facilities for boating and bathing at Kingstown, where the need of such accommodation has long been felt. The structure is of iron, and is divided by bulkheads into watertight compartments. The floor of the bath is formed of an open timber grating, through which the water enters the bath. The depth of water varies from 7f . 6in. to 3ft. The total length of the bath is 140ft . and the width 40ft. Over the bathing boxes an upper deck extends from end to end of the baths and forms a promenade for spectators. Outside the boxes a gallery or gangway is provided for means of access to the boats, and a boathouse occupies the stem of the “ship”. At the bow are placed the refreshment and smoking rooms, and other necessary offices. The estimated cost is £ 6,000.
